General Conference Family Home Evenings
When we lived in Payson, Utah I used to do a group about teaching the messages of LDS General Conference (GC) in Family Home Evening (FHE) in a way that was engaging for young children. I loved that season and the meaningful FHE lessons we had as a result. Life got busy and that slipped, but as I read Elder Hales talk from October GC I felt an impression that it is time to pick that up again and be more intentional in teaching these important messages in the home.
Elder Hales said, "In addition to inviting us to hold personal and family scripture study, Heavenly Father wants us to regularly study and apply what we have learned in conference. I testify that those who put their trust in the Lord and heed this counsel in faith will gain great strength to bless themselves and their families for generations to come."Wow...what a powerful promise! We need that strength in our home! If nothing else, it is my way of showing our Heavenly Father that we are trying, even though we continue to fall short in many ways. I am going to start posting our experiences with GCFHE (Yes, LDS members love acronyms!) and I would LOVE to hear about your experiences with what talks were most meaningful for you and/or how you are trying to teach them in your homes!
