Dedicating our HOME
I saw this on Facebook this morning and thought it was fitting. Yesterday after church we gathered as a family to dedicate our home to the Lord. It is a special event which has been very meaningful for us in all the homes we have lived in. Todd said a special prayer to dedicate it. Some of the things that stuck out to me were that our home would be a gathering place and those who would come here would feel a spirit of love and friendship--that our home would be a beacon. He said that we all need to act as watchmen at the entrances of our home--both actual and virtual--to protect the sacredness here from the evils of the world. As we do that there will be a special spirit here, akin to that of the temple. He said that in coming years we would see things unfold in our lives and know why the Lord needed us to come to Ohio (I'm excited to see what that means!).
Later last night we were reading a book by Ben Behunin and there was a quote I loved--"Make every house you live in your home." I read that to the kids and Brooke said, "Hey, we started doing that today!" I thought it was neat that the dedication meant so much to her as well.
I am grateful to have the Lord be the cornerstone of this home. I am grateful that the priesthood of God has been restored in our days. I am grateful for a husband who honors the priesthood he bears and uses it to bless our lives. I am grateful for this new home and for all the memories that we will make here!

I love this - it's true that your home will be a beacon because of your wonderful family and the spirit that you all have! - Sarah
